Below is everything you need to know about setting up a breast pumping station.
If your plan is to breastfeed through a bottle, but you can’t think of what all you’ll need to get started, then you’re in the right place!
Because I’ve compiled a list of supplies you can’t go without when you’re plugged-in. As well as some more helpful tips on breast pumping in general.
The Lactation Location
Choosing the location of your pumping station is the first step. Ensure you’re in a comfortable space where you feel at ease being pretty exposed most of the time.
I have two permanent stations set up in my house, one is in my bedroom on my night stand. I use this one mostly for middle of the night pumping sessions.
Also, I keep my Medela Pump In Style Advanced in the living room on the couch where little one and I spend the most time during the day. By the way, invest in lots of supportive pillows to keep your back healthy.
Don’t forget to place yourself somewhere you feel happy. After all, you’ll be spending the majority of your days at your pumping station
The Pumping Station Supplies
Along with the pump, I keep my lap top nearby, indulging in binge watching YouTube is my plugged-in guilty pleasure. If you’re a bookworm, then you may want to have a good book within in reach on your pumping station.
With the very important entertainment supplies checked off the list, just as crucial is any kind of lubricant for your nipples you prefer that is safe for baby. I suggest using an organic coconut oil.
A towel to keep your flange and you clean and dry, this helps to avoid fungal infections.
Always have a large beverage of something hydrating! Hydration is key when it comes to sufficient milk production! Snacks are a must!
I sometimes sit plugged-in for an hour or more and doing all that work makes mama hungry! It may be a good idea to keep a healthy snack near, like my no-bake boobie bites.
One of my favorite breast pumping pals is my Vava night light I found on Amazon! It has a touch control dimming feature that is perfect for late night pumping session. There is also a cool option for warm or cool light modes.
One more thing that I feel is a nice touch to your pumping station ambiance is a diffuser. Splash some warm vanilla and calming lavender in and you might as well be at the spa!

Lets recap the pumping station must-have supplies I mentioned earlier.

- Nipple lubricant, like organic coconut oil.
- A clean towel or wet wipes to clean up any breast milk off your skin and supplies.
