Tree of Life Breastfeeding Meaning
The tree of life breastfeeding photos are a meaningful and impactful image of the life-giving breastfeeding bond between mother and baby. A living tree connects the mother to her baby at the breast as she is the source of life and nourishment for her young.
There is an obvious issue with this depiction for some women, as not all babies receive their mother’s milk from straight from the breast. If this is your story, don’t feel left out, mama!
If you are an exclusively pumping mom, you can still create the same impactful tree of life breastfeeding photo. See the example below:

How to Edit A Tree of Life Breastfeeding Photo
I am going to show you how to use the free app Canva to edit and make your own tree of life breastfeeding photos. You can also go to Canva.com and use the free desktop version if you prefer working from a computer.
Step 1:
Once you open up Canva, you can create a new design by pushing the plus sign icon. That will open up a menu and you will be prompted to select the size and format you want your design to be created in. There are many preset sizes to choose from. I selected an Instagram post for this demonstration.
Step 2:
The menu at the bottom of the screen is where you will find the option to upload your own breastfeeding photo into Canva. Choose your image from your photo library or take one on the spot.

Step 3:
After you ensure your photo is sized properly to the format you chose at the beginning, select “Effects” from the bottom menu. Within those effects, find the “Paint Effects” tab and try each one until you find one you like and apply it to your photo.

Step 4:
The next step in creating your breastfeeding tree of life photo is to add the tree of life element. Look for the “Elements” tab and once opened, type in “tree of life”.

The first option should be the one you want. The options that say pro are for the paid version of Canva.
Step 5:
After you have selected your tree of life graphic, you will want to place it on your breastfeeding photo as pictured below. Just remember to have the leaves of the tree on mom and the roots on baby. You can resize and rotate as needed until you are happy with the placement.

Step 6:
Your last and optional step is to add a filter to your tree of life if you would like. You can do this by revisiting the “Effects” menu and choosing something you like. You can see in the photo below that I made my tree of life look a little more florescent teal.
Which App Has The Tree of Life?
Along with using Canva to create your breastfeeding tree of life photo, you can also use the app Picsart, which is available in the App store and on desktop. The Picsart app is what most tree of life breastfeeding photos are made with.
However, Picsart is a paid app after your free trial expires and then it costs $11.99 per month to continue using. Whereas Canva, is free to use and you can still achieve an almost identical look.
This is why I prefer the Canva app for making the tree of life breastfeeding photos, especially if you want to continue making them every month throughout your breastfeeding journey.
